Sailing things right

Another "fuckyeah" moment.

Galaxy Fold engineers were so genuine that they didn't find any better solution to protect the hinge from the ingesting dust with anything but adhesive "brush".
I don't know how they tested this decision, but in conditions of over 30° outside and the phone is in the pocket, that adhesive fell off and made the hinge stuck, so the phone didn't open.
Samsung refuses to fix that as a manufacturing failure and set the price of about €1k for the fix, because they just have to break and replace the foldable screen during repair.
Today I finally managed to catch and pull out that crap out of the phone so now it unfolds as intended.

Another confusion: why I'm not allowed to smoke from the right hand and breathe out to the right but allowed the left side? Or, maybe, that's «don't smoke two cigs at once»? Any decent clues, pals?

30 December 2025

I was scrolling through my photos and these photos are from the beginning of September, but anyway.

This is a quite old sport trimaran. It was built about 1985 which makes it 40yo. But this boat was built using the edge-tech at the moment — all-around carbon fiber, capable of flying 20+ knots.

Unfortunately, as most trimarans, it has very small living space. Just because they're built to fly, not to live on.
This particular one is 15 meters long but it has about twice less living space compared to mine 11.9m boat.

Nevertheless, I wish I will experience flying 20 knots of leisure sailing sometime.

PS: Yeah, I remember that I've uploaded these photos earlier and said almost the same words. But that's a dreamy thing and people are dreaming same things time to time! :)

But I'm working on it. :)

It was a little rainy past week, so I got some clean fresh free water in the dinghy. :)

By the way, cruisers lifehack: put the dinghy with the rainwater on the deck, put some washing thing and dirty clothes in it and go sailing.
In a few hours you get very clean clothes after a very gentle washing.

This panel may look the same, but that is the panel with the data from the database, where I'm collecting historical data, when the panel I've shown earlier is just a momentarily measurements, except „power gain per day“ which is an cumulative value over the day.

There will be a bunch of data collected, including all the sailing data like boat speed, course, location, wind speed and angles, and I'll be able to see the historical data for all my journeys with quite a precision.

Don't ask „why“ — it's just because I can. :)

This a McArthur hat on my Pi.
This piece of hardware is an absolutely amazing thing: it allows connecting together systems that were never designed to communicate (mostly because of proprietary stuff).

Now I need to install operating system, some special software and do a lot of set-ups to make it work properly.

The ultimate goal is to have a complete display on any of my devices with map, weather, AIS data, along with the wind and speed instruments and, sure thing, the autopilot controls.

That will be just awesome!

PS: Victron data will go here too.
