Having 20+ knots of wind today. Constantly watching my position in case of the anchor drag.

Looking for a helping hand on my next leg.
No special requirements, except that you will spend a lot of time actively helming since my autopilot has retired. :)
Planned departure is in 3-4-5 days, depending on the wind situation.
Pickup points: Olbia and every other city counterclockwise over the north Sardegna to Stintino.
The route is Sardegna-Balleares-Spain(from the closest point to Balleares and all the way down to Mar Menor).
You may drop off at any point.

Checking sensor from the computer side displayed complete loss of contact. Blamed mouse, started working.
Spent several hours trying to diagnose the problem, rewiring sensor, messing with settings of the navigation computer... ended up with changing tester.
FUCK!
But autopilot still fails to run properly.
Tomorrow will disassemble the post and clean all contacts for every connection.
But very, very probably I'll have to buy the new one.
Hell I'm tired of this shit.

The sunset DIY. That's gonna become a new bus-bar.
By all means I'm doing it wrong, but I'm not gonna buy a certified 200€ piece of copper with bolts before I get my last name changed to Gates, Bezos or Rockefeller.
This installation is just 20€ worth but includes some work with the saw and the drill.

The story with the rat finished. The bugger is dead.
Dunno yet what killed it — poison or a lot of ampers, since I found the corpse next to the battery bank.

This is a forward from the guys, I’ve had as neighbors in Tivat. Just a moment from our daily walk with our dogs.

Finally, I met these guys.
Unfortunately, they're extremely tired and rushing with the job to be done, so we spent kinda 30 minutes chatting and then I had to leave.
They refused my offer to help them for whatever reason but that doesn't really matter.
Checklist complete.
Maybe, next time we meet, they will be more relaxed and willing to spend some time with strangers.

Passage complete, I'm in Olbia.
The last 60 miles were extremely unpleasant. Swell and waves coming from 45°different directions so it was not possible to set up sails for "autopiloting".
And the final blow came unexpectedly from the island at the entrance to Olbia gulf — I was hoping for shade, but got almost 50 knots of katabatic wind. Ursa scared to shit of 45° heeling. Literally.
Also, I lost a small lure to something with teeth, but got 7kg tuna with a bigger one.

Today I had planned to go to Sardegna. Damn mouse sent me best wishes. It had destroyed cabling to the post and now I have no reading for vital data.
I returned back and now I'm going to rewire a lot of things.
Also, picking up the anchor went the funny way. :)

I decided to order spare parts for the engine immediately and stay here until everything is fixed. Don't like the idea of sailing with the leaking pump and silencer.
But there is some good news: I got my two small camper-tanks refilled with gas, trashed the big tank from Montenegro and was gifted with the Italian big tank. So I now have about 20 liters of propane which should last at least for 6 months, probably 8. All the gas story cost me only 56 euros, including the new regulator.
Sadly I'm missing the great opportunity to sail to Sardegna in two days in one tack with zero motoring time. But safety first.
And I made soup for myself. A little bit too much, so the next two days are declared soup-only days. :)

Made a little €90 upgrade to the bimini.
Now it's more rigid and is able to withstand the weight of two solar panels and also I got the very convenient grab-rails right where I was always missing them in bad weather.

This is a note for the future me: if you see such a cloud over an island and, especially, if it has such a tail — GTFO!
This island gave me a few very stressful minutes.

If the autopilot decided to retire, it's not the reason to cancel the move.
Going to Ponza. Tomorrow morning departing to Sardegna.
The screenshot shows the timing with the motor and without. I think the real ETA will be somewhere in-between.
12 October 2024
14:11 https://y-b.one/boat-life/601/
Water resupply time has come.
Found nearby the source of good drinking water. Two runs done, two to go.
Each run is about 150 liters.
Found that my 150 liters tanks actually are about 200-230 liters each. :)
9 October 2024
17:51 https://y-b.one/boat-life/591/
Today I started working on a sea water pump rebuild.
With some sweat and curses I managed to disassemble it, but the front-facing ball bearing was so bad that it did an "unexpected rapid disassembly" leaving the outer ring inside the pump.
On the cut view you may see that I got just a tiny groove in this ring as the only place to hook it.
Called a friend to brainstorm the problem and eventually found a solution that worked: three bolts, a nut in-between, and the metal hose clamp to evenly load each bolt in the outer direction.
Then hammered it out with the tubular wrench and a rubber hummer.
Just after I realized that that could be my first million-view video on YouTube, but will be zero since I didn't film a second. :)
3 October 2024
08:34 https://y-b.one/boat-life/582/
Yesterday I got some new shiny things delivered: dc-dc charger (so I'm able to charge my lifepo batteries using the engine), 500A smart shunt (so now I can precisely measure the power consumption and gain) and a new mppt-controller for the upcoming solar panel.
Installed everything, checked out twice, found everything working charmingly... And then heard the sounds of dripping water.
Found out that the salt water pump decided to fail exactly at this moment.
Now I have three variants: 69, 160 or 400 euros to spend on fixing/replacement, depending on discovered damage.
All my happiness about new toys has vanished. :(
