My marine AGM batteries are dead — just the anchor light drains them out completely in less than 6 hours.
There is a huge sale on Renogy products and I’m going to buy some new batteries there.
Tested out the full electricity consumption of the boat — powered up everything including bilge pump and water pressure pump — 390 Watts.
Normal human being requires about 40KW/month for almost everything.
If I’ll make galley electric this value may double, but it’s not the short-term plan.
Therefore, having over 1KW in solar panels would be required only when the washing machine will be installed to the boat along with the electric galley.
But, there’s another thing to consider — watermaker.
I couldn’t afford a new one and on the aftermarket time to time seen only the old less efficient models which require about 800W of power to operate. So, most probably, I’ll install as much panels as will fit the space and only after will deal with the consumption.
That will save my batteries life a lot.
