Why This Couple Died on a Private Yacht!youtu.be

Kinda scary video. But what I seen first — why the hell they didn’t reef ahead before the night? It’s a literally “night-shift rule number one: all sails at the second reef”. The reason is simple: at the night human being is slow, five times less inteligent and almost blind. Therefore, the sailor shall leave as little opportunity for error as possible. Reefing ahead even if the forecast is blessing — the first thing to do. So you will not have to try thinking fast if squall came to you — you just hold the helm and keep calm.
Whoever plans going to the sea — AT LEAST second reef on all sails must be set at the sunset. Rule of the thumb — two reefs down the current state.
